Swainsboro Tech SkillsUSA Brings Home the Gold

The Swainsboro Technical College SkillsUSA Club went to the State SkillsUSA Conference and Competition in Atlanta and in Tifton on April 11 and in Dublin on April 18 & 19. STC had 32 students competing in a 16 contest area. When it was all over, STC had placed in seven competitions, bringing home eleven Gold medals and three Bronze medals. The students who placed were: Dental Assisting - 1st Place Amanda O’Dell, 3rd Place Megan Bishop; Medical Assisting - 1st Place Cheri Slater; Related Technical Math - 3rd Place Richard Hammock; Promotional Bulletin Board - 3rd Place Erin Trull; Computer Maintenance Technician - 1st Place Blake Odom; Residential Wiring - 1st Place Chase Sutton; Opening Closing Ceremonies - 1st Place Lauren Thompson, Harriett Page, Windy Martin, Anna Newsome, Diana Norfleet, Susan Petrea, and Audrey Perkins. The first place winners will now advance to the National SkillsUSA Competition in Kansas City, MO at the end of June. Mr. Tony Criswell, STC SkillsUSA Advisor commented, “We are so proud of these students. They all did a great job.” The club is now trying to raise the money to go to Kansas City.
